Incorporating your New Year resolutions into your home

Happy 2013 to all of our faithful friends and family! It is time for those resolutions again, isn’t it? You should begin your resolutions by starting with your very own dwelling. It’s incredible how your own home can make you feel, interact and how well you are able stick to those resolutions.

To declutter your life, begin with the kitchen! So much time is spent in that one room. Bring more natural light into your home. If you are lucky enough to have a beautifully shaped window, let it show and be uncovered by old window treatments. Add a houseplant or freshly cut flowers (the best are straight from your garden in the summertime). My favorite part is the yellow accents in the fruit and vase; they add life and excitement. Don’t you feel refreshed already?
Ready to tackle more projects this year? Get yourself inspired and excited! This inviting living room harbors creativity with its mix of colors and patterns. The easily accessible books encourage an afternoon of lounging to broaden your horizons with a new book. You’re never too old to allow your imagination to grow. This living room will help you kick of this New Year with new ideas and a curious outlook!
Plan to relax more this year? We all should! Try adding some new features to your bathroom, perhaps with a colored tile or new fixtures. Bubble baths seem to be a thing of the past, but those stress relieving soaks can become more enjoyable if you give your tub some updates. If a bathroom remodel isn’t in your near future, at least spoil yourself with new extra plush towels and a nice candle for now!

Stuck on You

I was going to devote this blog post to wall paper. I’ve decided that will come at a later date. Many people are scared of wall paper and just picture tiny, country flowers saturating the walls. But, wall paper has come a long way! To ease into wall paper, I wanted to share these amazing adhesive wall decals that are removable, easy to apply and just plain awesome.

The fabulous adhesive wall tiles are made by Mur, a company based out of Salt Lake City. The tiles come in different sizes, colors and your imagination can run wild, as long as you’re thinking about triangular shapes.

LOVE the color availability: Mulberry, Saffron, Gold….

Best part about it – get 20% off of the tiles by December 24. Merry Christmas!

Want to get on trend with chevron, without trying to paint perfect lines? These vinyl adhesive chevron tiles are from Abby’s Vinyl Wall Art Etsy Shop. She has a plethora of colors and sizes. Talk about an easy way to make an impact in a room and hop on a trend!

What is BlikWhat is Blik

I might have to invest in some of Blik’s Wall Decals… This company started in 2002 with incredible wall decal designs. They are anything but boring! They make decal sheets, such as the ones above. Or you can get individual images (trees, robots, pirate ships…) for a wall. Their selection is so fun and inspiring – definitely worth checking out!
